WordPress is mainly for websites and blogs. You can build a business card, company site, landing page or blog. The WooCommerce plugin turns WordPress into a shop — it works well for smaller catalogues and simpler sales.
PrestaShop is built for online shops. It has product catalogues, cart, payments, shipping, promotions and advanced e-commerce options. It suits larger product ranges and complex processes (e.g. variants, warehouse, integrations).
In short: if you need mainly a content site and maybe a small shop — WordPress (and WooCommerce) may be enough. If you plan a serious shop with many products and complex rules — consider PrestaShop or another e-commerce platform.
